2nd International Conference on Sustainable Mobility
“Addressing Africa’s Challenges in delivering Sustainable Transport & Mobility”, Marrakesh, Morocco, 16 May 2017
This event is a follow-up to the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Mobility organised by Autoroutes du Maroc(ADM) in 2016 in the framework of the COP22 being hosted by Morocco.
IRF Geneva and ADM Morocco join hands this year for a 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Mobility to be hosted in Marrakech on 16 May 2017.
The conference will look into the conclusions of COP22 as far as the transport sector is concerned and will focus on ways to address the challenges that the African continent faces in delivering sustainable transport and mobility.
The conference is organised around four main sessions:
SESSION 1 – Africa’s Challenges in Sustainable Transport and Mobility
In Africa Sustainable Transport and Mobility: the Challenges to address; Connecting rural, urban and interurban areas: multi-modal transport for sustainable development; Financing Transportation Facilities in Mega Cities; Big Data for effective and efficient transport planning and delivery.
SESSION 2 –Delivering Climate Resilient Infrastructure
CoP Actions and resolutions to develop Sustainable Mobility; Transport Adaptation in Africa; Mobilising the sector: the IRF Manifesto on Climate Change Adaptation; ADM’s projects and initiatives on climate change mitigation and adaptation; Innovative materials & techniques for climate proof infrastructure;Supporting cliamte change action: the Global Centre of Excellence on Adaptation.
SESSION 3 –New Technologies for Sustainable Mobility: Electric Vehicles and Innovative Services
Trends in electric mobility; The Rabat-Salé Tramway; Smart Traffic Accidents and Management Systems for Smart Cities; the Future of Urban Mobility.
SESSION 4 -Delivering Safe Roads and Mobility
Meeting the SDGs targets: the SaveLives package; Ensuring sustainable funding for sustainable road safety targets; Meeting MDBs safety requirements for new infrastructure projects; Moroccan Strategy and Action Plan for Road Safety; Tools and methods for road safety management: the gTKP knowledge Centre..
The Conference will be hosted at the Mövenpick Hotel Mansour Eddahbi & Palais des Congrès, Marrakech.
Simultaneous translation in English and French will be available throughout the conference.
Registration fees will be as follows:
IRF Members – 150 USD
All other delegates – 200 USD
