Senior Road Executives Programme

The road sector is going through an unprecedented period of restructuring. Countries are improving management of their road networks, introducing private sector finance, setting up new style road funds and changing the way they set spending priorities and manage their roads. Furthermore, road safety has become a major issue, with it being recognised by the world community as an unprecedented pandemic.
This course is targeted at road executives, members of roads boards, government officials dealing with the road sector, staff from international donor organisations, consultants working on the road sector, staff from private sector such as construction companies from emerging economies and developing countries.
This 2-week course is composed of 4 modules: (the timetables are provisional)
- Road Financing & Road Fund Management (11th May – 13th May 2009)
- Restructuring Road Management (14th May – 16th May 2009)
- Road Maintenance Management(18th May – 20th May 2009)
- Road Safety (21st May – 23rd May 2009)
Each of the four courses involves three intensive full days of presentations, discussions, group exercises and site visits. They provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences of senior road executives from around the world, staff from donor organisations, banks and consultants, and academics specialising in road management and finance.
The courses facilitate an international exchange of ideas and common experiences, and provide a forum for the dissemination of emerging good practices. The courses are designed to enhance the technical, managerial and policy-making skills of participants to help them to improve road management and finance in their own countries.
