As the year rapidly reaches its close, IRF is moving forward with a number of exciting initiatives, events and activities. Next week, the launch of the IRF Vienna Manifesto on ITS during the ITS World Congress will mark IRF’s long-term, on-going commitment to ITS deployment and the creation of conducive policy environments for the adoption of smart technology.
Next month, the 7th IRF Regional Conference on Road Safety in Delhi will bring together key road safety experts and stakeholders and provide a high-profile opportunity to address priority issues as part of IRF’s firm commitment to furthering the objectives of the UN Decade of Action. The occasion will also mark the next meeting of the IRF Group of Experts on Road Safety and the launch of its first technical document in the form of comprehensive Guidelines for Road Safety Master Plans. The Guidelines will provide an invaluable tool for governments working to integrate road safety master planning into their broader transportation planning. Additionally, in early December, the IRF Road Safety Bulletin will be published, highlighting important IRF member activities, projects, and programmes designed to save lives during the Decade.
Meanwhile, we are already gearing up for a very exciting programme of activities in 2013. This will not only be rich in national, international and regional events but also introduce a number of new capacity building initiatives. Stay tuned!
As always, your expertise strengthens our work, our publications, and our events. I personally invite you to become actively involved in our Federation, to contribute to our growing pool of activities, and to benefit from all that IRF membership has to offer.
