International Transport Forum 2010 meets in Leipzig around the theme Transport & Innovation
794 delegates from 52 countries gathered in Leipzig from 26 to 28 May
2010 to look into the challenges and opportunities for deploying the
power and potential of innovation to improve the transport sector. The
plenary sessions featured a number of prominent speakers, including
Bertrand Piccard, Horst Köhler, Ian Goldin and Amar Bhidé, who inspired
the audience with their enthusiasm and vision.

IRF participates in Second African Forum for Dialogue
The second annual African Forum for Dialogue was held in Geneva on 25th
May 2010. This year's theme was "Peace and Security For Sustainable
Development in Africa." The event was scheduled by the African Union to
coincide with the celebration of Africa Day, and was convened only a
few weeks before the opening of the 19th FIFA World Cup, hosted in
Africa for the first time in history. In this respect, the choice of
theme particularly highlighted the African Union's resolve to fulfil the
African vision of peaceful co-existence, integration, prosperity and
pro-activeness on the global scene.

Adriatic Region Infrastructure and Finance Summit
Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, was the venue for the IRF supported
Adriatic Region Infrastructure Investment & Finance Summit 2010,
which was organised on 11-12 May 2010 on the occasion of the Annual
Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Unprecedented success for 2010 Senior Road Executive Programme
Together with the School of Civil
Engineering of the University of
Birmingham (UK), IRF hosted a highly successful Senior Road Executive
Programme from 12-24 April, 2010. This important international seminar
gave participants a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and experience,
as well as enhance their technical, managerial and policy-making
skills. In this respect, the course was designed to equip them with a
solid grounding from which to implement improved road management and
financing techniques, once back in their own countries.

IRF at Intertraffic 2010
This year, Intertraffic, the world's leading
trade fair in the field of infrastructure, ITS traffic management,
safety and parking, celebrated its 20th anniversary with its biggest
ever show. Held in Amsterdam from 22-26 March, the event brought
together over 800 exhibitors, from more than 40 countries, to showcase
the latest industry trends and developments. Virtually the entire top 50
global concerns were in attendance. Intertraffic 2010 also offered an
even wider range of theme categories. In addition to its regular
segments, the scope of the event was expanded to include two new
sections, environment and cooperative systems.

Keynote presence of IRF at China National Forum
The 5th China National Forum on Innovative
Highway Technology was convened in Beijing from 7-9 April. Organised by
the China Highway and Transportation Society (CHTS) - a member of IRF -
the theme for this year's forum was "Technical Innovation and Scientific
Development on Roads".
