Working Group
The IRF Geneva Programme Centre has been involved in road safety for many years, be it through its membership in advocating measures to enhance road safety through infrastructure improvements or through its cooperation with other leading international organisations involved in road safety.
The IRF Working Group on Safer Roads consists of around 20 members and meets twice a year. It gives special attention to the development of concrete responses to specific road safety problems and with input from its members, it creates a wealth of resources on various important road safety topics as well as a collection of best practices from developing countries which span geographically.
The Working Group on Safer Roads topics include:
- accident statistics
- road accidents knowledge base
- road safety guides
- sharing the roads
- road safety management training courses
- speed and traffic control devices
- road surface characteristics
