Query on tunnel construction projects under about PPP or DB schemes

In the last years Netivei Israel has executed several tunnel construction projects. The costing method for the contractor takes into consideration the various characteristics and conditions of the rock that the constructor should pass (drill/bore) through.

We are interested in learning about the methods used by other road authorities and organizations which are implemented in DB and/or PPP projects and include the following:

  • Costing method which takes the different characteristics of the rock into consideration and copes with the uncertainty of the state of the rock.
  • Method for approving the payment to the contractor.

We would be grateful if you could distribute this request to the appropriate contact person(s) in your organization. We’d appreciate any information you can provide as soon as possible.

Permanent Road Markings removal: Survey

Permanent road markings removal activities are carried out often during highway construction and maintenance operations.  To avoid confusing or misguiding the motorist, removed markings should not be visible under any driving conditions. Also, pavement surface, as well as the environment, should suffer only minimum necessary damage caused by removal techniques.

Tanzanian Roads Association pushing for safer roads

The Tanzanian Road Association, IRF Member, has released the outcomes of the 2013 edition of its Annual Roads Convention (ARC 2013). The ARC 2013 was Quality and Safer Roads in Tanzania and the meeting brought together the latest insights and expert interventions on the topic. The Convention resulted in a list of recommendations to improve road safety. Currently, talks with the Tanzanian Ministry of Works are ongoing to plan for their implementation.
