New edition of the Senior Road Executive Programme 2011
The 16th Senior Road Executives Programme held at the University of Birmingham (UK), from 4th to 16th April, 2011, promises to be the most informative ever.
Around 30 highly respected and experienced experts and authorities from around the world will speak on a variety of the most pressing and pertinent issues facing the road sector today.
The Programme will address through interactive seminars, case studies, workshops and site visits the main building-blocks which are vital for roads to be sustainable, namely: establishing responsibility through regulatory and institutional reform, providing adequate, stable and continuous financing; adopting appropriate enforcement, educational and traffic engineering measures to improve road safety, and applying fundamental asset management principles and using appropriate technologies for road maintenance.
A focus this year will be the vitally important issue of the environment. It will feature prominently in the Road Maintenance Management module (14th to 16th April) where the balance of encouraging economic growth through sustainable road development and maintenance and at the same time conserving the environment will be discussed and debated.
